ABOUT US...

La Cascade is situed at Bourg-Saint-Andéol in Ardèche Area (south east of France).
An old private school was rehabilitated around an inside cloister.
Today, this special place is the House of Circus and clown's Arts where arts as Circus, music, dance and theater meet each other.

In this single place, the different links of the artistic chain are joinning : introduction, professional training, creation and research. Roles are not fixed : an artist can come back to be a teacher or a pupil, the spectator can be a student, the child may become an artist.

A national Centre for Circus Arts
La Cascade is part of the eleven Circus Arts Centres in France ans is the only one in this part of country. La Cascade has exceptional equipements (auditorium, training gymnasieum adapted for all circus specialism, dancing room).
Two international french compagnies are associated to the development of this place : the Nouveaux Nez (clowns and musicians) and the Colporteurs (acrobats and tightrope walkers).

What do we do ?

A creation place
We have some training and creation equipments where both associated compagnies and all the circus compagnies coming all along the year in artistic residencies are working.
They allowed creation, physical training, artistic research, wardrobe and setting workshops.

A showing place
This place is open to a large audience, showing various stages of the creation process and various events.
All along the year, spectators can see demonstration of end of artistic residencies, shows and events just as "the Carnaval", "Alba New festival", "Faîtes du Cirque".

A transmission place
Various workshops are offered :
- weekly workshops for children from 4 to 15 years old and towards various schools of the aera
- workshops for professional artists
- formation of circus trainers
- research, researches seminaries about clown, international meeting of toghtropes... and other circus specialities.
